Accolades of Praise are given to GHD member Marsha Foster for sharing her gift of basket weaving with our organization. Hopefully you saw the article in the Leader on July 10th about her and her skills. Marsha is donating her baskets to be sold at the GHD booth at the DeSoto Fall Festival on September 20th. Her beautiful work includes muffin baskets, a bread basket, button baskets, market baskets, duck baskets, doorknob baskets, a wall basket, pickle baskets, a decorative basket with watermelon theme, an apple themed basket, a mini laundry basket and several bowls. Wow! Baskets will range in price from $5.00 -$50.00. Please stop by our booth, say hello and shop for a wonderful basket. If you can’t make it to the fall festival and want to purchase one of these treasures, please call Debby at 586-4570 for information or to place your order. Dear GHD Member:
This is such an exciting time for Get Healthy DeSoto. Our membership is growing and we are spreading the enthusiasm to surrounding communities. We have some significant projects under consideration for DeSoto. As a member I know you understand and appreciate the accomplishments GHD has made so far. I would like to update you on a couple of projects we are working on at this time.
Walking/Bicycle Trail in Ritcher Park
This would enable people to better utilize Ritcher Park in a healthy active way. The trail would cost approximately $13,500. At this time GHD has $2,500.00 on deposit with the City of DeSoto to go toward this project.
Walking Pocket Maps
Some of you may have seen the maps we currently have for three different courses throughout DeSoto. Our goal is to print seven additional courses. The total cost of the project is $3,099.50. This would give us 2,000 copies of each new map, reprint 1,000 copies of the three existing maps and would provide 10 outdoor plastic map holders.
Get Healthy DeSoto is proud to be able to provide the free membership that gives you access to the many educational sessions, newsletters and activities hosted by GHD. Our intention is to maintain this free membership.
If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution toward the projects listed above please make your check payable to “Get Healthy DeSoto” and mail to Get Healthy DeSoto, c/o Debby Campbell, 431 Johnston Drive, DeSoto, Mo. 63020. All donations are appreciated. We hope you will consider becoming a vested member in these projects.
