Dear GHD Member,
The Best Laid Plans…. sometimes don’t have a successful conclusion. Due to weather conditions and the condition of the grounds at Walther Park, Market in the Park had to be cancelled. Many hours of volunteer work were used in preparation of the event. A sincere apology is extended to all vendors who prepared for this day. It truly was not in our control. Your planned participation in this GHD fundraiser was greatly appreciated. Kudos of praise and appreciation to volunteer chairperson Beverly Wilson for the many hours donated in organizing the event. Special thanks to Rick Francis and Larry Krodinger for providing shuttle transportation for our shoppers and vendors. Also, many thanks to our scheduled volunteer workers for the day: Charles Campbell, Matt Williams, Jimmie Burkeen, Padre Bob Payne, Sandy Johner, Amanda Johner and Gene Thompson.

Congratulations to Brian Werner, winner of the DeSoto Police Department Weigh-Loss Challenge.

Donations

Dear GHD Member:

This is such an exciting time for Get Healthy DeSoto. Our membership is growing and we are spreading the enthusiasm to surrounding communities. We have some significant projects under consideration for DeSoto. As a member I know you understand and appreciate the accomplishments GHD has made so far. I would like to update you on a couple of projects we are working on at this time.
Walking/Bicycle Trail in Ritcher Park
This would enable people to better utilize Ritcher Park in a healthy active way. The trail would cost approximately $13,500. At this time GHD has $2,500.00 on deposit with the City of DeSoto to go toward this project.
Walking Pocket Maps
Some of you may have seen the maps we currently have for three different courses throughout DeSoto. Our goal is to print seven additional courses. The total cost of the project is $3,099.50. This would give us 2,000 copies of each new map, reprint 1,000 copies of the three existing maps and would provide 10 outdoor plastic map holders.
Get Healthy DeSoto is proud to be able to provide the free membership that gives you access to the many educational sessions, newsletters and activities hosted by GHD. Our intention is to maintain this free membership.
If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution toward the projects listed above please make your check payable to “Get Healthy DeSoto” and mail to Get Healthy DeSoto, c/o Debby Campbell, 431 Johnston Drive, DeSoto, Mo. 63020. All donations are appreciated. We hope you will consider becoming a vested member in these projects.
Thank you for your participation in making DeSoto a healthier and active community.

Sincerely,
Cathy Boyer
Secretary of Get Healthy DeSoto
